Of course you are right. The hamster is just a standard metaphor. But what is really going on? Perhaps the hamster is more like the Olympic athlete in training. It is not that he is going nowhere, but a very determined somewhere. Or perhaps he feels like a concert pianist, almost compelled to continue to put his fingers exactly here, here, here, every day, CDEFGABC, CDEFGABC, and so on. I accept the criticism and welcome the discussion, speaking as a friend of the hamster.
